I was born 30 years too late for the kind of cinema I'd like to do. –Kevin Costner

About

He didn't work for nearly six years while he waited for a proper break. That break came with The Big Chill (1983), even though his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor - he was remembered by director Lawrence Kasdan when he decided to make Silverado (1985). And that was the beginning of his amazing career in films.

Kevin has been married twice, to his first wife Cindy from March 5th, 1978 to December 12, 1994 when they divorced and to his second wife Christine, whom he married on September 25, 2004.

Kevin has 7 children: Annie (b. 1984), Lily (b. 1986) and Joe (b. 1988) with his first wife Cindy; Liam (b. 1996) with Bridget Rooney with whom he had a brief relationship; and Cayden Wyatt (b. 2007), Hayes Logan (b. 2009) and Grace Avery (b. 2010) with his second wife Christine.

Kevin owns a 165 acre ranch outside of Aspen, Colorado and a 17 acre ranch in Santa Barbara County, California where he and his wife Christine are raising horses. He has played at the celebrity golf tournament in Pebble Beach, California every year since 1996 and his favorite movie genre is the Western.

Some of his favorite films include:

Giant (1956), The Searchers (1956), Hombre (1967), The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), The Magnificent Seven (1960), How the West Was Won (1962), The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), The Great Escape (1963), Cool Hand Luke (1967), and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

In 2007, with the encouragement of his wife Christine, he started his own rock/country band called Kevin Costner & Modern West.
